I became connected to leukemia & cancer in general in 2009 when I was hired as a private chef for a family recovering from lung cancer for the third time. Two months later, my mom was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Within a few months, another family dealing with incurable leukemia saw me on the news and heard my story about using purposeful food to help people fight against some horrible odds to beat cancer. So I joined their fight as well.
The families that I cooked for our still doing well almost 14 years later. Food has made an incredible impact on their life. My mother's outcome wasn't the same. My family lost her in 2012. Since that experience, I've become very passionate (and some may say vengeful) about helping families stay together longer, healthier and happier.
Eating delicious purposeful food is a way we can care for ourselves. It can completely change the condition of our body to be more resistant to disease, threatening cells can be killed off before causing a problem and our bodies can become more receptive to medical treatment and recover faster.
Running for the Visionary of the Year campaign is another angle to attack this horrifying disease. NOBODY NEEDS CANCER! but we get it. 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed at some point in their lifetime. It's really time for us to shut cancer down and start enjoying life without the death threat of cancer.
