A Taste of Canyon Ranch for LLS

#cookingforacure has been my fundraising team for the past two years to help raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to do their thing. Their "thing" is to collect the human testing data from achieving results that will help eliminate blood cancers. Personally, I believe that food can help prevent and help fight cancer if used and consumed correctly. So you're probably asking why is this so important? It's pretty important to me for a few reasons, so listen up Karen!

First off, on a national level, every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with some form of blood cancer. Not one of them woke up today and said "oh boy I hope I get blood cancer today!". Cancer doesn't care if you want it or not, it just shows up with a mission to ruin your life. Blood cancers are just a portion of the #cancer epidemic. Nearly 1.6 million people will be diagnosed this year alone with a form of cancer. 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women (guess which of the two sees a Doctor more often?? A: not men) will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. One-third of women and half of all men....WTF?? Our lifestyle habits clearly aren't the best choices. Nobody needs to suffer like this, ever.... so let's start making a change!

Ok so why food? Why do I rant about cancer prevention all the time? In 2012 my mother ended her two year fight against cancer. During those two years though, I was helping families on the other side of the country be victorious with their battles against different cancers. I'm a food guy, I've been cooking 27 years now and food is what I know. I'm not a Doctor, I barely know the law, I don't meditate, so I use what I know to help change the future of people looking for a healthy change. As much as I believe food is the answer, I know that I can't cook for everyone and change the way we all think about food. So food is really only a small part of the answer. Medical science is a big piece of the answer, all politics about covid aside. So this is where cooking for a cure was created. Use food to raise money to help medical experts perfect medications to eliminate cancer, which means eliminating suffering from cancer, eliminating losing a family member to cancer, eliminate loneliness from losses and seeing more happy, smiling families on this earth for much, much longer. At the same time, raise awareness of the benefits of eating well and that healthy food can be freaking delicious and an amazing experience to eat. That's the goal.

Last year, I was selling prepped meals to raise money and for every meal I sold, I donated one to someone that was currently fighting cancer, which by the way, increases a persons hope. A hopeful person can and will put up an even stronger and nastier fight when they know they have a chance. It's truly amazing to see and be a part of that inspiration. It's honestly what drives me.

This year, I'm changing things up. Instead of selling prepped meals, I'm putting together a collection of some of the best damn recipes we serve at Canyon Ranch Spa + Fitness Las Vegas. So now you can have small portions of some of our best work that goes into the dishes on our menus. From Cashew Butter to Ranch Dressing, Pumpkin Spice Syrup to Banana Bread, you can now enjoy our flavors at home. All of the profits (over $50 per bag) will go directly to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. From there, they will use the money between research and helping people in our community afford their medical treatment, like helping with copays.

So what do you do now?

If you live in Las Vegas, you can email me directly with how many bags you would like to purchase at now. If you order 5 or more bags, we will be happy to deliver them for you. If you come to dine-in you can also purchase a bag on your way out, we will have them ready!!

If you don't live in Las Vegas, I don't trust myself to ship anything, but you can still help. You can click this link HERE to donate directly now! Every dollar counts and every dollar helps!
